COVID-19 | Virulence of the virus on objects

April 9, 2020 | Publisac

Hello,

As you know, we are monitoring the situation on a daily basis through press briefings from our government, local and regional media and a team of experts in communication and logistics. We are sure you are also on the lookout for the latest news, and we hope you and your family are healthy, in the comfort of your own home.

This week, we wanted to share some facts about the transmission of the coronavirus. First, be aware that the virus is transmitted naturally by droplets and close contact, the risk of contamination by an object is low. According to Santé Quebec, the virus could survive between a few hours and a few days depending on the surface on which it is found, but the survival of the virus does not mean that there is automatically a possibility of contagion. In fact, the virus does not survive well outside the human body, which is why it is recommended not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth and wash your hands as often as possible.

That said, if we look at the Publisac production and distribution chain, several hours, even days, pass before you receive it at your door and studies show that the virulence of COVID-19 decreases over time. For any type of package, we also remind you that you can clean with a simple disinfectant the surfaces that you believe can be infected.

Your health, as well as that of our employees, distributors and paper boys, is our priority. Since the first signs of the virus in Quebec, we have taken the necessary measures to preserve their safety and we are constantly adjusting our practices. Here are some of these measures:

  • Temperature controls at the entrance to our warehouses;
  • The addition of equipment and furniture to promote physical distance in our warehouses;
  • A limit of paper boys per vehicle;
  • Bottles of disinfectants in vehicles and warehouses, and more!

Also, in order to support you in the coming weeks and facilitate access to your retailers flyers, we have written a navigation guide on Publisac.ca. Our site is constantly evolving, this guide will be updated regularly.

Finally, on the eve of Easter celebrations which will certainly be different from previous years, we hope that you will take the time to celebrate virtually with your family and spread a little love.

We wish you a good long week-end, remain united, prudent and responsible.

A sincere thank you for your loyalty and understanding.

Your Publisac team
